For the fourth consecutive year, Harris Corp. has recently been ranked as one of the Top 100 Military Employers by G.I. Jobs Magazine. SAIC also made the list this year, ranking at number 24. The list showcases the top 100 veteran-friendly companies in the U.S. from among 5,000 that are eligible.

“The strength and success of SAIC is a direct result of its employees,” said Walt Havenstein, SAIC CEO. “Veterans embody the characteristics we look for – integrity, ethics, perseverance, honor and commitment. The values and skill set they bring to the table are easily translated to the workforce, and we’re proud to have them as members of the SAIC team.”

The rankings are based on the criteria of a company’s long-term commitment to hiring former military, recruiting and hiring efforts and results, policies for Reserve/Guard members called to active duty, and the presence of special recruitment military programs. Previously reported companies recognized include CSC, Wyle and TASC.

Harris has about 1,800 veterans working for the firm out of its more than 17,000 total employees worldwide. About 15 percent of Harris new hires are military veterans and the firm employs seven full-time employees who average 50 percent of their time on sourcing and hiring candidates with military-related skill sets or with prior military experience.

“Our military veterans represent a rich resource of talented employees with leadership skills and can-do attitudes that are vital to the future success of companies like Harris,” said Jeff Shuman, senior vice president of chief human resources and administrative officer at Harris. “We are proud to be recognized for the fourth year in a row as one of the top companies among those with a commitment to military friendly programs.”
