Rockwell Collins’ HUD Technology Makes Wall Street Journal’s List

Rockwell Collins  is among the 35 winners and 16 runner ups in this Wall Street Journal’s Technology Innovation Awards. The firm was recognized for its synthetic vision on head-up display and named a first runner-up in the Transport category.

Rockwell Collins’ HUD was recognized for its ability to enhance pilots’ situational and operational awareness through all flight phases, particularly in the event of low-visibility or unfamiliar terrain.

“Not only does a head-up, synthetic view enable safer travel,” according to Craig Olson, senior director of head-up guidance systems for Rockwell Collins, but it also “will enable more reliable travel as regulators allow its use for lower takeoff and landing minima.”

Companies that were recognized in Wall Street Journal‘s awards were selected based on the ability of an innovation to break conventional ideas and the technology’s ability to impact the field as a whole.
