Kelly Collins, President of Fortify Software’s Public Sector Division

Kelly Collins serves as president of the public sector division at Fortify Software, a subsidiary of Hewitt Packard.

In this position, Collins works closely in dealing with development and production of software security and working with public officials to aid in the protection of government systems by implementing ways to combat cyber attacks.

Prior to this position, Collins served as president of federal operations for SAS Institute. There she was responsible for balancing the company’s federal portfolio. In 2005, Collins joined BEA’s management team and served as general manager and area vice president for public sector and financial practice. During her tenure global government became the fastest growing vertical segment and the number three revenue generator behind financial and telecom according to the company.

Prior to BEA, Collins worked as vice president of General Electric’s security division, focusing primarily on explosives detection and bio-threat detection systems for global government clients.

She also served as the vice president of government systems for Groove Networks, a secure collaboration software company founded by Ray Ozzie prior to their acquisition by Microsoft. The company says Groove’s government practice was the strongest contributor to the company’s revenue generation during their five-year history.

In addition, Collins also founded C4i, a company that targeted innovative software start-up manufacturer’s and represented their technologies in the defense intelligence community.

Collins career in the technology sector began at IBM, as a Co-op student from Rochester Institute of Technology, where she received her bachelor’s degree in business management and information systems. After five years working for IBM’s national federal marketing business in Washington, she spent the next five years with Sybase as an early stage start-up.
