Richard DeFatta joins the company as the vice president of engineering support services for the madison research business unit of the weapon systems solutions division, and will work from the division’s Huntsville, Ala. headquarters, said the company.
“We are all excited about Rick joining Kratos and look forward to his contributions for a number of upcoming opportunities in continuing and growing our support of U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command, the Space and Missile Defense Command, and the Missile Defense Agency,” said Jennifer Price, senior VP of madison research.
DeFatta most recently worked as vice president of Teledyne Solutions, working to provide the Missile Defense Agency and the Defense Department with technical support, program management, testing and integration.
The U.S. Army Colonel previously served as project manager for the Army’s Cruise Missile Defense Systems Project Office. He also managed the development for five of the Army’s Air and Missile Defense products, according to Kratos.
In addition, DeFatta served as Chief of Staff to the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology, the U.S. Product Manager for the Medium Extended Air Defense System, and Director of Kwajalein Missile Range.
He is a West Point Academy graduate and holds his master’s in engineering physics from the Air Force Institute of Technology as well as a master’s in systems management from the Florida Institute of Technology.
