NetApp recently donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross Silicon Valley Chapter for a new mobile emergency response vehicle that will distribute water, food, and other supplies in times of disaster.
The firm’s donation also includes funds to cover annual vehicle gas and maintenance costs, driver training courses for six people, and community disaster education materials.
“Disaster preparedness is something NetApp takes very seriously, and we are thrilled to be able to work with the American Red Cross to deliver a new ERV that will go a long way in helping to provide critical food and supplies to people in need,” said Gwen McDonald, executive vice president of human resources at NetApp.
NetApp and the American Red Cross Silicon Valley Chapter have been long-time partners focusing on community emergency issues, according to the announcement. The new ERV will be stationed in Silicon Valley, home of NetApp’s headquarters in Sunnyvale, Calif.
