HP Names New Chief Communications Officer

Hewlett-Packard has appointed Henry Gomez as executive vice president and chief communications officer, HP announced Tuesday.

HP said Gomez will manage the company’s government affairs, relations with media and industry analysts, and employee and executive communications.

HP said Gomez, a 26-year communications industry veteran, worked at eBay for most of the previous decade. Some of his roles at eBay included serving as president of Skype and as senior vice president for corporate communications.

“Henry is an excellent manager and communications executive,” HP President and CEO Meg Whitman said. “People around the world care deeply about HP, and I believe we have an important obligation to clearly explain where we’re headed and why.”
