Microsoft, DC Form Tech Education Alliance

Microsoft has formed an alliance with the D.C. local government to provide technology access and computer-skills training in the District, Microsoft announced Wednesday.

Microsoft will assist the D.C. Department of Employment Services in providing residents with basic technology training to develop skills required for most entry-level jobs.

The D.C.-Microsoft alliance will also provide new resources to teachers and students for science, technology, engineering and math education. Students will attend Microsoft DigiGirlz days and Minority Student Days, where they will participate in technology exercises and learn about technology-related careers.

The alliance also focuses on workforce development and capacity-building for District-based small businesses by providing $100,000 business-development resources to ten local certified business enterprises.
