Overall, Microsoft employees have raised $946 million for community organizations and nonprofits since the company launched its giving program in 1983.
Microsoft is currently in the 30th year of its corporate giving program and matches employee gifts to all eligible organizations with a 501(c)(3) public charity status and educational institutions.
Full-time employees receive a $12,000 corporate matching gift that matches volunteer time, $17 per hour, or dollar-for-dollar charitable contributions to eligible nonprofits.
Microsoft said employees volunteered 426,671 hours in 2011, 73,000 more hours than in 2010.
