Company executives will serve as judges in the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology Robotics Competition’s D.C. regional event from Thursday to Saturday.
Executives also participated as judges for the Chesapeake regional competition March 8 through March 10 in Baltimore.
Regional competition winners will compete in the FIRST Championship April 25 through April 28 in St. Louis.
Teams of between 15 and 25 high school students make complete robotics packages and are judged according to robot design, creativity, innovation, performance and teamwork.
Mentors can assist the students through fund raising, brand creation and robotics programming.
Dr. Arunas Slekys, corporate marketing vice president said the company aims to foster the students’ growth in science and engineering to help mold future technology leaders.
Students will also use the competition to solve real-world engineering problems, he said.
