Lockheed Providing Veterans Recruitment Program

Lockheed Martin Chairman and CEO Bob Stevens reaffirmed the company’s commitment to hiring returning veterans in an interview with CNBC Wednesday.

The Bethesda, Md.-based company said in a release that around 23 percent of its 123,000-strong workforce is comprised of U.S. military veterans.

Nearly 18,000 veterans have joined the company during the last five years.

The company said hiring veterans fits because the company’s primary service offerings include global security, aerospace products and other military related services.

Lockheed said it targets former military personnel through a specialized recruitment program that focuses on transitioning soldiers to civilian professions.

The recruitment program also partners with organizations like the Military Spouse Employment Partnership, the Employer Partnership of the Armed Forces and the Army Partnership for Youth Success Program.
