Northrop Foundation Helping UVA Research Society, Business Relationship

Northrop Grumman’s foundation is giving the University of Virginia a $1 million founding grant for a new business in society initiative, the company announced Wednesday.

Company leaders will serve on the initiative’s advisory committee with the initiative’s other founding contributors.

The university’s Darden School of Business launched a research center for the initiative in November to examine the dynamics between government, business and society.

The university will develop courses, hosting conferences and events with academic and business leaders.

The initiative will explore how business and government work together in value creation and and risk management.

The research center will develop courses and host conferences and events with business and academic leaders.

The aerospace and technology company recently hosted high school students at one of its California facilities to promote engineering careers.

The company is providing grants to teachers who support projects in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
