Northrop Supports VISTA Education Program With $1M Grant; Linda Mills Comments

George Mason University‘s received a $1 million grant from Northrop Grumman Corp in support of the Virginia initiative for science teaching and achievements program.

The Falls Church, Va.-based firm announced Monday the program benefits high-need schools in the science disciplines.

Linda Mills, corporate vice president and president of Northrop’s information systems unit said the program strives, “to inspire a new generation of high-tech professionals to fill the critical shortage we face as a nation.”

Funding will be used in support of 200 elementary teachers to participate in the VISTA program throughout a four-year period.

It will also cover a portion of teacher’s stipend and VISTA in-class-coaching.
