Executive Profile: Mark Cabrey; URS Federal Services VP Finance, Controller

Mark Cabrey serves as a vice president of finance at URS Federal Services and is the controller of the federal division’s $700 million IT / SETA services arm, where he manages a team of more than 50 employees. He is based out of Chantilly, Va.

In this role, the 25-year industry veteran is responsible for full business operations functions, in addition to general ledger, disbursements, compliance, audit, tax and treasury responsibilities.

He joined URS upon its June 2011 merger with Apptis Holdings Inc., where he most recently served as corporate controller. While at Apptis, Mark created and implemented a new finance organization under the CFO across the entire Apptis Holdings (~1B Revenue) organization which was comprised of Apptis Services and Iron Bow Technologies.

During his tenure at Apptis, he also served as the primary liaison during the merger and acquisition processes while working with outside brokers and Apptis’ then-private equity owners New Mountain Capital.

Cabrey joined Apptis in July 2006, and three years later led a cross-functional project team to create and separate the infrastructures of the company’s two divisions.

The company says this effort was critical and strategic and led to the eventual spin out of what is now known as Iron Bow Technologies immediately prior to the acquisition of Apptis by URS.

Prior to joining Apptis in 2006, he worked for 20 years at Unisys in many capacities out of both Pennsylvania and Virginia locations in both the federal and commercial areas. Mark is a 1985 graduate of Villanova University.
