Rear Admiral Tony Cothron is Vice President for Business Development and Customer Requirements for General Dynamics Information Technology’s Intelligence Solutions Division. He assumed that position in June 2009 and leads the company’s business development and capture efforts
Cothron retired from the U.S. Navy in December 2008 after distinguished service as a career Intelligence Officer. He served as Executive Assistant to the Director of National Intelligence, as the Director of Naval Intelligence, as the Deputy Director for Customer Requirements at the National Security Agency, as the Commander of the Office of Naval Intelligence and as the Commander of the U.S. European Command’s Joint Analysis Center.
His Navy operational experience included a duty aboard USS America (CV-66), as Intelligence Officer for Patrol Special Projects Unit One (VPU-1), as an Air Wing Intelligence Officer for CVW-8 during Desert Storm aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and as the SIXTHFLT N2 (Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence) during the conflict over Kosovo.
Rear Admiral Cothron holds a master’s degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College and a bachelor’s degree in history from Middle Tennessee State University.
