General Dynamics is one of several contractors competing to provide cloud-based email services to federal, state, local and tribal governments under a series of blanket purchase agreements potentially worth $2.5 billion combined.
The company said its information technology business unit will offer agencies a virtualized email communications and data storage system with archiving, electronic discovery, records management and office automation tools.
Marcus Collier, senior vice president of GDIT’s health and civilian solutions division, said in a release the government’s “transition to the cloud is happening at an ever increasing rate.”
GDIT says its system integrates email with other agency systems and applications for users to view, collaborate and exchange information on procurement, enterprise monitoring and time tracking.
