Lockheed to Receive ATCA Award for FAA Computer System; Stephanie Hill Comments

Lockheed Martin will receive an Air Traffic Control Association award for the company’s work in a Federal Aviation Administration modernization program, the company announced Friday.

The company will receive the 2012 Industrial Award during the ATCA’s 57th Annual Conference and Exhibition Oct. 1 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Md.

The company is helping the FAA replace a 40-year old computer system with the En Route Automation and Modernization program, used for airplanes flying at high altitudes.

Stephanie Hill, president of Lockheed’s information systems and global solutions-civil division, said the company shares the award with the National Air Traffic Controllers Association and the Professional Aviation Safety Specialists.

In March, a Lockheed team received an Aviation Week magazine award for working on an Air Force communications satellite.
