Report: Cisco CEO John Chambers, Board Name Potential Successors

John Chambers

Cisco Systems CEO John Chambers and the board of directors have named potential successors upon his retirement within the next two-to-four years, Sarah Frier reports for Bloomberg.

Chambers and the board identified 10 senior managers as potential CEOs, including Chief Operating Officer Gary Moore, according to the report.

Other candidates include Executive Vice President of Worldwide Operations Robert Lloyd, Senior VP of the Americas Chuck Robbins and SVP of Global Services Edzard Overbeek.

Chambers ordered a management overhaul in 2011 and told Frier the leadership changes were made to help Cisco prepare for a new CEO, who is likely to come from within the company.

Chambers expressed to Bloomberg his intentions to stay on as chairman when he retires.
