Robert Lloyd

Cisco Systems announced Thursday that Robert Lloyd, formerly executive vice president of worldwide operations, will move up to the president ranks and lead development and sales.

The company said Chuck Robbins, who previously ran the Americas sales region, will immediately succeed Lloyd and lead worldwide sales.

Both Lloyd and Robbins have been identified by CEO John Chambers and the board of directors as potential successors to Chambers as chief executive along with Chief Operating Officer Gary Moore, who was also promoted (click over to GovCon Wire for more on Moore’s new title).

Pankaj Patel, executive vice president and chief development officer, will continue to lead Cisco’s development organization and Wim Elfrink, executive vice president and chief globalization officer, will continue focusing on emerging solutions and the development of new markets.

Elfrink will also integrate his organization into the development and sales organization.

Robbins, Patel and Elfrink will report to Lloyd.

Lloyd, a 17-year company veteran, serves on the executive committee which sets strategic direction for the firm’s market segments.

Prior to his EVP post, he served as senior VP for operations in the U.S., Canada and Japan and has also served as president of the Europe, Middle East and Africa region for more than four years.
