Executive Profile: Thomas Wilson, ATK VP&GM for Spacecraft Systems and Services

Thomas Wilson

Thomas Wilson is vice president and general manager of spacecraft systems and services for aerospace systems at ATK, an aerospace and defense company with revenues of approximately $4.8 billion.

As GM of SSS, Wilson is responsible for leading all aspects of the business with a team of over 560 employees located in California, Maryland and Virginia.

Previously, he served as the VP of strategy, business development and advanced systems for ATK Space Systems Group where he was responsible for managing and coordinating all activities involving corporate business and acquisition strategy, business development, and aligning ATK’s capabilities/synergies to customer requirements.

Prior to the acquisition of Swales Aerospace by ATK in June 2007, Wilson held management positions for the company including VP, corporate development and VP of Space Systems Programs. During his leadership tenure at Swales he was responsible for establishing the national security market based business and growing revenues from zero to more than $75M/yr. He also led the development of program management and business enterprise processes at Swales.

Before he entered the Aerospace Industry in 2001, Wilson had a distinguished 13 year career as a government civilian in the DoD. He entered Government service in 1989 at the Naval Research Laboratory,  Naval Center for Space Technology (NCST).

Wilson graduated from the University of Maryland in 1992 with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering.
