Red Hat Promotes 13-Year Vet Arun Kumar to India GM; Dirk-Peter van Leeuwen Comments

Red Hat has promoted Arun Kumar from senior director of business development for the Asia-Pacific region to general manager for Red Hat India, BizTech2.com reports.

The 20-year information technology industry veteran has served as senior director of APAC services, director of global alliances with Hewlett-Packard and Sun, practice director of global professional services and GPS practice director for the western region.

“India is a key growth market for Red Hat,” said Dirk-Peter van Leeuwen, vice president and general manager, Red Hat Asia Pacific. “Customer interest in reliable and secure open source solutions to support their mission critical business needs continues to grow, and more opportunities are emerging in the form of major IT projects initiated by local government agencies.”

“Customers in India are increasingly looking to migrate to an open hybrid cloud from their legacy and proprietary infrastructure,” Kumar said, according to the website.

Kumar brings experience from both the U.S. and the APAC regions, van Leeuwen added.
