Siemens Pakistan Names 32-Year Vet Guenter Zwickl CEO

Siemens Pakistan‘s board of directors has elected 32-year company veteran Guenter Zwickl CEO and managing director, The News International reports.

According to the website, he will focus on streamlining and growing the company’s business in the country.

The company has had a long-term presence in Pakistan since its inception, helping the country answer challenges, Zwickl told the website.

“I intend to build on that relationship and am fully committed to continue growing our business here and to play a leading role in developing further the local expertise needed to meet Pakistan’s development goals,” Zwickl said.

Between 2008 and 2012, he led Nokia Siemens Networks’ global research and development coordination out of Poland and later India and also ran the R&D centers in those countries at the same time.

Prior to that, he led several international managing director positions for Siemens for eight years.

From 1995 to 2000, he served as general manager of the company’s communication cable and network division in Indonesia and of MECC, a Siemens joint venture in Thailand.

Zwickl has also served as project director in Egypt, Cameroon and the former East Germany.

He joined the company in 1978, initially with the company’s infrastructure business for traffic surveillance in Austria before moving to Hong Kong.
