Ciber has appointed M. Sean Radcliffe vice president and general counsel, where he will serve as the company’s chief legal adviser and secretary to the board of directors.

The company said the 20-year law veteran most recently served as VP and chief legal counsel at business information and research firm IHS, where he served as a strategic adviser to company executives and their primary legal resource.

At IHS, Radcliffe built a global intellectual property portfolio and served as chief compliance officer.

“Sean Radcliffe’s strong background supporting technology companies will be a great asset to Ciber,” President and CEO Dave Peterschmidt said. “His experience negotiating complex relationships between clients and partners also will serve our company well.”

In 2000, Radcliffe started Fogdog Legal Counsel, an entrepreneurial solo practice from which he served as a legal and strategic adviser to a portfolio of start-up technology and service companies.

One was ChoiceSeat, a technology firm, where he has served as general counsel and corporate secretary.

He guided ChoiceSeat through intellectual property rights relationships with major technology firms, national sports leagues and large sports venues.

Radcliffe has also worked as a senior attorney for WilTel Communications, where he was lead attorney on software development engagements.
