Former Boeing Commercial CEO Alan Mulally Staying as Ford Chief Through 2014

Ford Motor Co. CEO Alan Mulally, who joined the company in 2006 after serving as Boeing‘s commercial aviation CEO, will remain as president and CEO of Ford through 2014.

Bloomberg reports the announcement comes as the company promoted Mark Fields to chief operating officer from president of the Americas, putting him in position to succeed Mulally as chief executive in 2014.

Ford has not had a COO since Mulally joined the company, according to Bloomberg.

Fields’ elevation to COO also set in motion a series of moves as Joe Hinrichs, formerly head of Asian operations, will succeed Fields as head of operations in North and South America, the report said.

Stephen Odell, head of Ford Europe, adds responsibility for Africa and Jim Farley, global marketing chief, was named the senior global leader for the Lincoln luxury brand.

David Schoch becomes group vice president of Asia-Pacific and John Lawler becomes CEO of Ford Motor China, Bloomberg reports.
