IBM, HP Vet Kevin Hooper to Lead NEC Enterprise Platform Segment

NEC Corp. of America has appointed Kevin Hooper to the newly-created post of senior vice president for the enterprise platform solutions business, which CRN reports is the largest of the firm’s business units in America.

Chad Berndtson writes the IBM and Hewlett-Packard veteran will report to Masaaki Nakajima, NEC’s executive vice president for enterprise solutions, lead a team of more than 400 people and hole profit-and-loss responsibility for the company.

His responsibilities will also include services and solutions related to the company’s Internet Protocol telephony, software-defined networking, unified communications and cloud infrastructure strategies.

Hooper most recently held a five-year stint at HP, where he served as VP and general manager for the networking segment.

He also held different sales and channel roles at IBM, where his most recent position was VP for worldwide business partner strategies.
