The Airbus Corporate Foundation’s board of directors has appointed Fabrice Bregier, Airbus’ president and CEO, to succeed EADS CEO Tom Enders as chairman of the board.
EADS said Enders has led the foundation since 2008 and will move to an honorary chairman post.
The foundation aims to facilitate charitable activities across the world and engage employees and partners worldwide to support youth development, humanitarian and community support and environment.
“I will continue to work hand in hand with our Airbus employees as well as with our partner airlines and organizations in order to take the foundation further,” Bregier said. “With a strong footing on the foundation’s humanitarian and environmental objectives, the organization will now focus more on local initiatives in Airbus home countries, especially ones that help young people from difficult areas.”
The foundation has helped carry out 30 relief flights worldwide for humanitarian aid missions including transportation of food and goods to affected areas.
High school students in France and the U.S. receive support in completing their studies through the foundation’s “Flying Challenge,” which Airbus plans to expand in 2013 in the U.K., Spain and Germany.
