Capgemini Group has promoted Aiman Azzat to group chief financial officer, effective immediately and succeeding Nicolas Dufourcq.

The company said Chairman and CEO Paul Hermelin recommended Azzat to his new position, which the board of directors unanimously approved at a Wednesday meeting.

“I am proud to lead a talented finance team that has contributed, under the leadership of Nicolas Dufourcq, to considerably strengthen Capgemini’s ability to withstand economic fluctuations,” Azzat said.

He also said he will aim to lead Capgemini to a double-digit operating margin.

“Naming as CFO a proven line manager, with a strong experience and a detailed knowledge of the current as well as targeted economic model of the Group is a great asset for Capgemini,” Hermelin said. “Aiman has a proven track record having designed, in 2004 and 2005, major turnaround plans for North America and outsourcing.”

Capgemini says Azzat is a 20-year veteran of the group’s operations, with 10 of them at Gemini Consulting, the former brand of Capgemini Group’s strategic and transformation consulting arm, now Capgemini Consulting.

As head of its financial services unit, the company credits Azzat with increasing that unit’s share in total revenue from 14 percent to 21 percent.
