Executive Profile: John Hynes, TASC EVP & COO

John Hynes serves as executive vice president and chief operating officer at TASC, a position he has held since September, 2012.

He is responsible for driving day-to-day execution of TASC’s core businesses, refining its operating practices, and enhancing its crossfunctional collaboration and effectiveness.

He also leads TASC’s defense and civil group, which supports the Defense Department, DHS and civilian agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration and NASA.

Hynes, who worked at TASC from 1990 to 2001, returned to the company from SAIC in August, 2011 to become SVP of the defense and civil Group.

At SAIC, he was senior vice president and general manager of the mission support business unit, a 3,600-person organization with more than $1 billion in revenue earned from a wide array of services to the intelligence community.

Previously, he was president of ManTech security and mission assurance. Hynes began his private-sector career with TASC as an analyst; he subsequently held several positions at TASC, including program manager and director of a business unit focused on geospatial systems and advanced text processing.

John earned a B.S. in economics from the U. S. Naval Academy and a master’s in management information systems from George Washington University.

During his military service, John was a naval aviator, hunting submarines from the P-3 aircraft in the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea. He also served at the Navy Operational Intelligence Center as an intelligence analyst and department head.
