Lockheed Martin partnered with Khalifa University in hosting an innovation summit for local college students and faculty members to encourage interest and collaboration in engineering.
According to a company statement, the summit began with remarks from the university’s president, Dr. Tod A. Laursen, welcoming the company and highlighting the university’s commitment to advanced research and engineering.
Nabil Azar, Lockheed’s director for advanced programs and business development, said that the company is honored to work with the university in educating and inspiring students in the field of engineering and that the company’s engineers are passionate about their work and the summit is a chance to share the same passion with the future workforce.
The summit included interactive demonstrations by researchers from Lockheed and breakout sessions for students and faculty to learn about specific topics of interest.
Lockheed also announced that it is collaborating with the university on big data analytics research and development which are needed for the discovery of complex and evolving activities with many components in social network data.
