Former Defense Undersecretary Michèle Flournoy Joins MITRE Board of Trustees; Alfred Grasso Comments

Former undersecretary of defense for policy Michèle Flournoy is joining the MITRE board of trustees, the company announced December 21.

MITRE president and CEO Alfred Grasso said Flournoy’s national security expertise “will benefit MITRE’s work not only in the defense and homeland security areas but across the wide spectrum of agencies we support.”

As undersecretary of defense under President Obama, she led the development of the new strategic guidance and represented the DoD in foreign engagements, in the media and before Congress.

Prior to being elected to the board, Flournoy was the Boston Consulting Group‘s public sector senior adviser.

Flournoy’s service as the Defense for Policy undersecretary lasted from 2009 to February 2012.

She is a member of the Defense Policy Board, Aspen Strategy Group, and the Council on Foreign Relations.
