NASA Officials Pay Visit to ATK SLS Rocket Facility

Senior NASA managers visited an ATK production facility last week to receive updates on the Space Launch System, the Standard Examiner reports.

Bryon Saxton writes the company is contracted to produce six solid rocket boosters for the SLS, a project with Boeing as the prime contractor (click over to TheNewNewInternet for more on the program).

Todd May, space launch program manager at the agency’s Marshall Space Flight Center, spoke with ATK employees last week in Magna, Utah and provided them updates on the program, Saxton reports.

Kay Anderson, communications lead for ATK’s space launch division, said the agency’s representatives thanked the workers for their efforts on the program.

The SLS program aims to launch a manned Orion spacecraft for human exploration missions, potentially to asteroids and Mars.
