Christopher DiGiorgio, managing director of Accenture‘s Northern California business, has been appointed chairman of the board of directors for a technology and science museum in San Jose.

DiGiorgio, who was unanimously elected, becomes the 10th board chairman in the museum’s history and his term is through May 9, 2014, the museum said Tuesday.

He will succeed Ann Bowers, a philanthropist and education advocate who is the second woman in the museum’s history to chair the 39-member board.

“I am excited about working with The Tech President Tim Ritchie and the museum staff to help The Tech usher in a new generation of science and technology museums,” DiGiorgio said.

DiGiorgio also currently serves as co-chair of the Joint Venture Silicon Valley and as vice chair of the Bay Area Economic Institute.

He also serves on the Bay Area Council’s executive committee and the advisory board at Santa Clara University’s school of business.

Tim Ritchie, the museum’s president, said DiGiorgio brings experience in helping companies make decisions on strategy, technology and innovation.
