Executive Profile: Mike Sipple, Lockheed Martin Director of Contracts for IS&GS-National

Mike SippleMike Sipple serves as director of contracts for Lockheed Martin‘s information system & global solutions- national, a provider of global information systems and support services with $2.4B per year in sales and over 250 contracts.

In this role, he leads forty-five professionals at multiple locations with headquarters in Herndon, Va. From November 2008 to December 2009, Sipple was the director of contract policy at Lockheed corporate headquarters in Bethesda, Md. He worked with industry associations to formulate positions on acquisition-related legislation and regulations.

From October 2007 to October 2008 Sipple was the vice president of contracts and strategic agreements for the spacecraft systems division of ATK. He led thirty contracts and subcontracts professionals at multiple locations across the U.S.

He served as the director of contract administration, at Lockheed corporate headquarters from March 2001 to September 2007. In this role, Mike led the deployment of the Electronic Contracting Environment (ECE).

Sipple came to Lockheed from the Defense Department‘s Office of the Secretary of Defense, having served as the Acting Director of the Defense Acquisition Regulations Council. Mike began his service in the Office of the Secretary of Defense in 1992 as a procurement analyst.

Sipple graduated from the University of Delaware with a B.A. in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration. Following graduation in 1985, he was awarded a presidential management internship and began working as a contract specialist at the Naval Sea Systems Command, Surface Systems Contracts Division, in Arlington, VA.
