Mitre Starting Air Navigation Training Courses; Gregg Leone Comments

MitreLogoMitre Corp. has started a new training course in global air navigation management aimed at helping aviation professionals implement a worldwide standard for modernizing aviation systems.

The five-day course will start in June 2013 at Mitre’s Aviation Institute in McLean, Va. and aim to help create a common understanding on how to implement the Aviation System Block Upgrades, Mitre said Monday.

According to Mitre, the International Civil Aviation Organization’s ASBUs concept is intended to focus on airport operations, interoperable systems and data, flight capacity and flight paths.

“Just as MITRE transfers tools and technology to industry, the MAI is another way for us to transfer our knowledge,” said Gregg Leone, director of Mitre’s Aviation Institute.

“In this case, we are mobilizing to transfer our knowledge of these harmonization efforts to aviation stakeholders worldwide,” he said.

The “Decision Makers’ Methodology and Best Practices for ASBU Implementation” course is intended for civil aviation authorities, aviation service providers and industry members involved in aviation systems modernization.

Focus areas include the ASBU’s framework and goals, developing business cases and selecting capability criteria.
