Northrop Employees Tour Poseidon Maritime Aircraft at Md. Facility; Paul B. Kalafos Comments

PoseidonThe US Navy‘s P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft visited Northrop Grumman‘s facility in Baltimore, Md., according to a company statement.

During the stopover, Northrop employees toured the P-8A’s cockpit and crew areas.

“We extend our gratitude to the Navy for bringing the P-8A aircraft to our facility, allowing the employees who develop these systems an up-close look at the results of their labor,” said Paul B. Kalafos, vice president of Northrop Grumman’s surveillance systems business unit.

Northrop employees were able to see the AN/ALQ-240(V)1 electronic support measures system, which they produce and is meant to detect and identify radar and other electronic threats to the aircraft and Navy vessels

Northrop also developed the aircraft’s embedded GPS/inertial navigation system.

According to the release, five Poseidon aircraft have been delivered to the Navy thus far.
