Northrop Subsidiary Scaled Composites Appoints Kevin Mickey President, Cory Bird VP

kevinmickeyNorthrop Grumman subsidiary and rapid design, innovation and prototyping company Scaled Composites, has appointed Kevin Mickey as president and Cory Bird as vice president, effective immediately.

Paul Meyer, Northrop Grumman advanced programs development general manager and VP, said Mickey and Bird’s over 20 years of experience will bring “ingenuity and perseverance to realize concepts” for Scaled Composites.

Prior to this promotion, Mickey was the company’s EVP and general manager.

Mickey will replace Doug Shane who is supporting the completion of testing and the transition of commercial operations for the Virgin Galactic and Stratolaunch programs.

The 23-year company veteran has also served in leadership roles at Lockheed Martin Skunk Works.

Bird, a 28-year company veteran, started at the company as a composite technician and was most recently the chief engineer for the Stratolaunch program.
