Raytheon BBN Wins White House Innovation Award

RaytheonGCERaytheon‘s BBN Technologies subsidiary will receive a White House award for innovation during a Friday ceremony, the Boston Globe reports.

Chris Reidy writes the National Medal of Technology and Innovation is the highest U.S. government award for scientists, engineers and inventors.

BBN President Ed Campbell will accept the award.

Reidy writes BBN is being recognized for its work in identifying airline flight patterns that reduce jet engine noise in residential areas and reducing submarine noise underwater.

BBN also developed software for battlefield simulations, communications and computer networks, the report said.

Raytheon purchased the Cambridge, Mass.-based BBN eight years ago.
