Cisco Helping Start Distance Learning Engineering Program; Nitin Kawale Comments

Cisco-LogoCisco Canada and the Universite Laval in Quebec are working together to start distance education program in computer science and software engineering, aiming to offer students online learning through new technologies.

Denis Briere, university rector, and Eric Bauce, executive vice-rector for development, introduced a five-year Chair in Educational Leadership program that seeks to establish methods for creating computer science and software engineering training modules, Cisco said Wednesday.

“Workers and people in remote areas will now have access to quality education and will help fulfill the growing workforce needs of businesses struggling to ensure their growth or succession,” Briere said, emphasizing the role of distance learning in increasing student recruitment pool.

According to Cisco, methods used in this project intend to help professors interact with students in a virtual environment and test their knowledge through distance exams.

“The Internet and connectivity have changed the way we learn,” said Nitin Kawale, president at Cisco Canada.

“New learning tools and online curricula have made it possible for students to gain access to educational and training opportunities regardless of their physical location,” he added.
