Cisco, HP, SAP Join Tech Workforce Training Program

Cisco, Hewlett-Packard, Telefonica and SAP are among the 15 companies who have signed up to support the European Commission’s Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs, Jennifer Baker writes.HPlogoGCE

SAP plans to launch a training platform for smart grid installers and an online learning environment for young students, according to the report.

sapHP will also launch an e-learning program aimed at helping up to a million students and professionals acquire business and technology skills, Baker reports.

Cisco plans to educate 100,000 smart meter installers and Telefonica will help 1,000 startups through five academies.

Ryan Heath, an EC spokesman, told Techworld the digital economy adds more than 100,000 jobs per year but needs enough people in the right places to fill those positions.
