General Dynamics Designs Police Vehicle Architecture to Serve as “Brain” for Communications

GD-logo_GovConExecutiveGeneral Dynamics UK recently showcased an architecture for police vehicles that it designed to eliminate complex on-board systems, Fleet News Reports.

The One Box Single Vehicle Architecture, which the contractor demonstrated during the Security and Policing show in Farnborough, Hampshire, serves as the police vehicle “brain”, the publication said, as it links it in real-time with commanders in disparate control rooms.

In addition to these features, the architecture must meet the U.K.’s Association of Chief Police Officers requirements of in-car solutions to automatically recognize number plates and maintain a data management system for drivers and vehicles.

The goal is to provide police with “instant intelligence” and better monitor the use of vehicles.
