Ian Tyler to Take Non-Executive Role at BAE Systems; Dick Olver Comments

BAE-Systems-LogoBAE Systems will appoint Ian Tyler as a non executive director in May, according to a Construction Enquirer article.

Tyler, Balfour Beatty’s CEO, will leave the firm at the end of March after the company warned of declining profits following more than a year of restructuring, Aaron Morby writes.

“Ian’s knowledge and deep understanding of long-term contracting businesses and his boardroom experience will be an asset to the board, particularly as the company continues to grow its international business and further enhance its growing reputation for excellence in program management,” said Dick Olver, chairman of BAE.

Andrew McNaughton has already assumed Tyler’s role in the firm, which he handled since 2005.

During that period, Tyler’s leadership catapulted Balfour Beatty toward higher-end engineering design with the acquisition of Parsons Brinckerhoff, according to the report.

Tyler helped the company treble in size and bolstered its capabilities, the report said.
