Mike McConnell, vice chairman of Booz Allen Hamilton, spoke at an information security workshop Monday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on cyber threats against the financial sector in the Middle East.

Zawya reports McConnell delivered a keynote speech at the event, hosted by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency and sponsored by the Banking Committee for Information Security.

The former national intelligence director advised attendees to educate users in security awareness and develop an information sharing framework, aimed at fighting cyber crime and cyber attacks.

“Financial institutions are a prime target for cyber criminals, and as a result, they need to focus on staying ahead of cyber threats by developing the right human capital, developing appropriate training programs and retaining the right skills and technology to properly access and protect corporate data,” McConnell said, according to Zawya.

Booz Allen has registered with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry to pursue business opportunities in the country.
