Parsons Corp. has won two performance awards from the Idaho Department of Transportation for its work as a general contractor on a 2.1-mile-long highway project, completed in July 2012.

URS Corp. acted as lead designer for the U.S. Highway 95 Sand Creek Byway project and Parsons held a $112 million contract to oversee the work, Parsons said Wednesday.

The Excellence in Transportation awards recognize companies that develop, plan and implement projects in the state.

“We are proud to add these awards to the list of numerous project achievements” said Todd Wager, a Parsons group president.

Parsons helped build four steel-girder bridges and two pass over water bodies.

The Sand Creek Byway project has also received other awards such as a 2013 National Recognition Award from the American Council of Engineering, first place in the 2013 ACEC Idaho awards and a Grand Concept award.
