AT&T Wins County Govt Group’s Cyber Leadership Award; Chris Roy Comments

ATTLogoAT&T has won a leadership distinction award from the U.S. National Association of Counties for helping the organization advance efforts to build cybersecurity alliances among private enterprises and local governments.

NACo, which provides services to the nation’s 3,069 counties, handed the telecommunications company the 2013 Award for Corporate Excellence at its annual legislative conference in Washington, AT&T said Wednesday.

The company is an affiliate of the NACo’s cybersecurity task force, which conducts webinars to educate members on cyber issues counties face.

“Cybersecurity remains a complex challenge for local governments, requiring a collaborative effort between industry and government leaders,” said Chris Roy, AT&T vice president for the government and education western U.S. client group.

“Our work has only begun and we look forward to AT&T’s continued involvement and leadership on this issue,” said Chris Rodgers, NACo president and Douglas County commissioner.
