Cisco to Help Start Up Network Tech Academy; Tarig Enaya Comments

Cisco-LogoCisco and Saudi Arabian Airlines signed an agreement to establish a networking academy in Saudi Arabia as the country is embarking on a $100 billion redevelopment project in one of its cities.

The Cisco Networking Academy will be based in the King Abdullah Economic City and aim to teach students skills to design, build, manage and secure computer networks, Cisco said Sunday.

Nearly 10,000 of the academies are based in 165 countries and aim to help students prepare to pursue entry-level jobs, as well as acquire additional education and globally recognized certifications.

Saudi Arabian Airlines is building an international IT park at in the city, aiming to open a center for supporting business activities.

“The next Internet experience will enable a profound level of collaboration that will change the way we think, the speed by which we invent, how we connect and share information,” said Dr. Tarig Enaya, Cisco managing director for Saudi Arabia.

Enaya added Cisco is aiming to help the country build a knowledge economy by training future technology workers there.
