Science Applications International Corp. and has been in that role since March 2012.
Previously, he was the president of SAIC’s Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Group and oversaw more than 12,000 scientists, engineers and business operations that provide technology services and products across the full spectrum of national security programs.
Before joining SAIC in 2005, Shea was vice president of space and intelligence in the TASC Business Unit of Northrop Grumman Corp. While in this position, Shea oversaw the company’s mission support to the 16 agencies under the purview of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Department of Defense’s space superiority programs.
Earlier in his career, he served in several positions with PAR Technology Corp. He was an imagery analyst and remote sensing specialist with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Kansas Applied Remote Sensing program.
Additionally, Shea is the founder, CEO, and board chairman for the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation. He was also a former director of the Cartography and Geographic Information Society, a fellow of the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping and served as a member of the Sustaining Member Council for the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.
In 2009, Shea was selected as a recipient of the Federal Computer Week Federal 100 Award. He was recognized for his work within the IT industry. According to ExecutiveBiz, “Shea is largely credited with making the annual GEOINT Symposium, managed by USGIF, the largest single gathering of intelligence professionals worldwide; it has attracted over 12,000 attendees over the past five years.”
Shea received his B.S. degree in Geological Sciences from the State University of New York at Albany and a M.A. degree in Geography from the University of Kansas. He is also a graduate of programs from the Darden School of the University of Virginia, Harvard Business School, The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and George Washington University’s School of Business and Public Management.
