LockheedLogoLockheed Martin and Cisco will work with a Bowie, Md.-based community organization to pilot a secure, private cloud for three Prince George’s County high schools to access resources for science, technology, engineering and mathematics education.

The 90-day project aims to provide the county cloud-based STEM curriculum, multimedia recordings from mobile devices and simulations of careers at Lockheed, the company said Wednesday.

Youth outreach organization Men Aiming Higher will partner with the companies for the STEM Innovation Cloud program, which will include students and teachers at Fairmont Heights, Suitland and High Point High Schools.Cisco-Logo

Vicki Schmanske, vice president of information technology and security solutions for Lockheed’s information systems and global solutions business, said the company aims to give Prince George’s County students tools to succeed in school and in their careers.

The county uses technology such as cloud computing and mobile devices to give students skills and knowledge, she added.

“It is imperative that we emphasize science, technology, engineering and mathematics education in our school system,” said Rushern Baker, county executive.
