Lockheed Martin‘s missiles and fire control business has won an award from the U.S. Commerce Department for achievements in industry leadership, strategic planning and customer relations, among other areas.
The Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award is the only presidential award for performance excellence, Lockheed said Monday.
Jim Berry, a former MFC unit president, accepted the award on behalf of the unit Monday at the Malcolm Baldridge Quest for Excellence Conference in Baltimore.
Lockheed’s MFC business is one of 26 total Baldridge awardees within the manufacturing sector.
Ninety-three awardees have been selected out of more than 1,500 Baldridge Award applications since the program started, the company says.
The Baldridge Performance Excellence Program launched in 1987 with the goal of creating a roadmap for U.S. organizations to reach performance standards, Lockheed said
