MorganFranklin Managing Director Bill Hughes Elected to GAO Council

Morgan & Franklin logoBill Hughes, managing director and public sector head at MorganFranklin Consulting, has been elected to the U.S. Government Accountability Office Green Book Advisory Council.

Hughes will take his oath of office on May 20 at the GAO headquarters in Washington, D.C., where he will aim to help revamp GAO’s standards for federal internal controls for two years, MorganFranklin said in a statement.

Hughes said his goal is to help agencies achieve their goals of saving taxpayers money in this financially constrained environment.

The 22-year practitioner of external audit, internal control, compliance and financial management joined MorganFranklin in 2005 and has since managed the company’s government sector programs.

A certified public accountant and government financial manager, Hughes is a member of AICPA, American Society of Military Comptrollers, New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and Association of Government Accountants Northern Virginia chapter where he was a former president.

He will join 20 to 25 GBAC members from various sectors such as internal audit community, federal, state, and local government, academia and financial, compliance and performance auditing organizations.

The council submits recommendations to the Comptroller General to align federal government internal control standards with the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission internal control-integrated framework.
