Ian Newberg to Lead Cubic NextBus Subsidiary; Richard Wunderle Comments

Cubic Coporation logo_GovConExecutiveIan Newberg, formerly a Xerox Corp. vice president and general manager, has rejoined Cubic Corp. as president of the NextBus subsidiary within the transportation systems business segment.

The 20-year transportation industry veteran previously served as a VP in Cubic’s Washington office from 1996 to 2006, Cubic said Thursday.

He most recently served as VP and GM of public transport and advanced systems.

“NextBus is a key component of our NextCity initiative to deliver a fully integrated, whole-of-transport journey, information and payments management system,” said Richard Wunderle, Cubic SVP and GM of North American operations for the transportation systems segment.

Newberg will work to expand NextBus’ presence in the international arena as NextBus has more than 100 transit agency deployments in the U.S. and Canada, Wunderle said.

Newberg started his career at the U.S. Transportation Department and led DOT’s $210 million collaboration with General Motors to study the feasibility of an automated vehicle system.

He also served as president of Parkeon North America, working on transit and system applications for municipal customers.
