Northrop, University Partner for Rocket and Research Competition; Jeff Grant Comments

NorthropLogoNorthrop Grumman helped a Melbourne, Fla.-based university host a competition for students to design and build original projects from robots to rockets and conduct research projects.

A group from the company’s Space Park facility in Redondo Beach, Calif honored the winning teams and interacted with students and faculty at a May 2 luncheon, the company said Tuesday.

Jeff Grant, an aerospace systems sector vice president and space systems general manager, said the partnership with Florida Tech aims to spur student interest about the company’s programs, projects and missions for the U.S.

Florida Tech students and faculty also participated in an event at the Gleason Performing Arts Center on May 1 with 150 people from the Space Coast.

T. Dwayne McCay, Florida Tech executive vice president and chief operating officer, moderated a forum during that event.

Also present at the forum were Blake Bullock, Webb Telescope campaign leader and a Northrop business development manager; and Scott Willoughby, vice president and Webb program manager.
